From Zero to the Sahara

She set out to find herself.

Once an accountant, calculating life by the numbers.
Then, a cyclist, chasing the breeze around Taiwan.
In a crowd of strangers, she met him—
The rider who always looked back to make sure she was there.
3,275 meters up the peaks of Wuling.
Six 100km Trailwalker challenges.
A 100km ultramarathon across the scorching Sahara.
Through wind and sand, she found her true strength.
And the man who waited on the road, became her lifelong partner.
She thought happiness was a distant destination.

About the Author
My story started with numbers. Balancing ledgers at the Big Four and navigating a family business, my life was safe and predictable. That changed in my thirties with a single, transformative bike ride along Tolo Harbour. Trading spreadsheets for the open road, I went on to cycle the entire coast of Taiwan—where I met my husband—and together we conquered the grueling twin ascents of Wuling.
My passion for endurance grew, leading to six Trailwalkers and crossing the finish line of the Sahara Desert ultramarathon in January 2026. Yet, life’s greatest endurance test wasn't in the desert; it was at home. Facing my father's dementia and my mother's aging, I left my full-time career for a freelance life to become their anchor.
Through every peak and valley, my journey comes down to one truth: we push our limits to the edges of the earth to discover who we are, but we endure the hardest miles to find our way home.
